Monday
2/23/15

Greetings PHS family, today in PE we continued practicing skills for our Team Sports Unit of Floor Hockey. We started our day with our dynamic and static stretching routine focusing on stretching our calf muscles. Next, we performed pushups and 6 inches for our muscular endurance and abdominal strength exercises. The Floor Hockey skill of the day was a review of dribbling. Students performed dribbling in a straight line as well as changing directions using the cone weave. We ended our day with static stretching. Tomorrow, we will begin practicing passing and receiving.

Greetings PHS family, today in PE we began practicing skills for our Team Sports Unit of Floor Hockey. We started our day with our dynamic and static stretching routine focusing on stretching our hamstring muscles. Next, we performed pushups and bicycle crunches for our muscular endurance and abdominal strength exercises. The Floor Hockey skill of the day was dribbling. Students performed dribbling in a straight line as well as changing directions using the cone weave. We ended our day with static stretching. On Monday, we will practice passing and receiving. 2/18/15

Greetings PHS family, today in PE we began our Team Sports unit of Floor Hockey. Students took the pre-test for Floor Hockey, and took notes on the history of Floor Hockey, official rules, court dimensions, safety, and skills. Last, students wrote their 3 individual goals for the unit in their interactive journals. On Friday, we will begin practicing skills beggining with dribbling. Let's have another great day on Friday.

Greetings PHS family, today in PE we took our Basketball unit Post test. Students also wrote their three goal reflection essay. Next, we played our last day of basketball elimination tournament games. Students did an outstanding job over the course of this unit. We will begin our Floor Hockey unit on Monday. Students please remember to bring your interactive journal and number two pencil. Have a great weekend.

We began our day with our 5 lap warmup for cardiovascular endurance.  Next, we performed our dynamic and static stretching routine focusing on stretching our quadriceps muscles. Next, we performed wide grip pushups and six inches for our abdominal strength exercise. Before we began our elimination tournament, students played two games of knockout working on the B.E.E.F. concept for shooting. Next, we continued our elimination tournament.  We ended our day with static stretches. Let's have another great day tomorrow. Students, we will have our Basketball unit post test tomorrow please make sure you are prepared for the exam.

Before we began our round robin tournament, students performed a skills challenge combining all of the skills learned at the beggining of the unit (passing, agility, dribbling, and shooting). Next, we performed diamond pushups and figure 4 crunches for our abdominal strength exercise. Today we continued our round robin tournament. Students effort today was great, and they are really starting to apply the skills learned at the beginning of the unit to actual game play very well. We ended our day with static stretches.
