1/30/15

Greetings PHS family, today in PE we continued our Team Sports Unit of Basketball. We started our day with our dynamic and static stretching routine focusing on stretching our calf muscle. Next, ran our 1 mile run outside on the track. Next, students were assigned teams and we began game play. Students did a great job today with applying the skills that they learned to the test with game play. We ended our day with static stretches. Have a great weekend.

Greetings PHS family, today in PE continued practicing skills for our Team Sports Unit of Basketball. We started our day with our dynamic and static stretching routine focusing on stretching our calf muscle. Next, we performed staggered pushups and V-ups for our abdominal strength exercise. Next, we reviewed passing, focusing on the proper technique. Then, I gave a brief demonstration of the B.E.E.F. concept of shooting. Next, we practiced layups and played the knockout activity. We ended our day with static stretches. Tomorrow we will select teams and begin game play. Let's have another great day.

Greetings PHS family, today in PE continued practicing skills for our Team Sports Unit of Basketball. We started our day with our dynamic and static stretching routine focusing on stretching our hamstring muscle. Next, we performed pushups and crunches for our abdominal strength exercise. Next, we reviewed dribbling, focusing on the proper technique of using your fingertips while dribbling. Then we practiced passing and receiving using the chest, bounce, baseball, and overhead passes. Last, we played 3 on 3 games without dribbling focusing on proper spatial awareness and movement without the ball. We ended our day with static stretches. Tomorrow we will introduce shooting. Let's have another great day.

Greetings PHS family, today in PE started practicing skills (standard 1) for our Team Sports Unit of Basketball. We started our day with our dynamic and static stretching routine focusing on stretching our quadriceps muscle. Next, we performed close grip pushups isolating our triceps muscles and crunches for our abdominal strength exercise. Next, we began practicing dribbling, focusing on the proper technique of using your fingertips while dribbling. We ended our day with static stretches. Tomorrow we will practice passing and receiving. Let's have another great day.

Greetings PHS family, today in PE we began our Basketball unit. We also reviewed our Team Handball post test during class. Students took their Basketball pretest and then took notes in order to prepare them for the unit. Lastly, students wrote their three goals for the unit and explained why and how they were going to accomplish their goals. We will begin practicing skills tomorrow. Let's have another great day.

Greetings PHS family, today in PE we took our Team Handball post test. We also wrote our reflection essay for our three goals. Next we played our last tournament games of Team Handball. On Monday we will begin our basketball unit. Have a great Weekend.

Greetings PHS family, today in PE we continued our game play for Team Handball. We started our day with our dynamic and static stretching routine focusing on stretching our hip flexor muscles. Next, we performed super planks and figure four's for our muscular endurance and abdominal strength exercises. We continued playing our tournament round robin games. Students did a great job of applying the skills that they learned to actual game play today, keep up the great work! Students please remember that we will take our Team Handball Post test tomorrow. Let's have another great day tomorrow.

Next, we played tournament round robin games. Students did a great job of applying the skills that they learned to actual game play today, keep up the great work! Greetings PHS family, today in PE we started practicing skills (standard 1) for our Team Sports Unit of Team Handball. We started our day with our dynamic and static stretching routine focusing on stretching our hamstring muscles. Next, we performed wide grip pushups isolating our pectorial muscles and toe touches for our abdominal strength exercise. During the Team Handball work session we practiced making chest, bounce, baseball, and overhead passess. We also played some 3 on 3 without dribbling to make students aware of spatial awareness and moving without the ball. We ended our day with static stretches. Let's have another great day tomorrow.

Greetings PHS family, today in PE we began our Team Sports unit of Team Handball. Students took their pre test on Team Handball. Next, students took notes on the origin, official rules and learned some of the vocabulary and skills that we will use and assess throughout the unit. Tomorrow we will begin practicing skills so that students will be prepared for the unit test and tournament games. Let's have another great day.

Greetings PHS family, today in PE we continued our Fitness Gram pre test by measuring our cardiovascular endurance with the Pacer test. We began our day with introducing our 5 lap warmup and our dynamic and static stretching routines. Next, we performed the Pacer test, students recorded their pre test scores on their Fitness Gram tracker sheet. On Monday we will finish the Fitness Gram pre test, as well as take our Common Assessment Pre Test. Have a great Weekend.

Greetings PHS family, today in PE we reviwed our procedures and expectations for the second semester. Next, we began our Fitness Gram pre-test measuring height and weight, sit and reach (flexibility), and pushups (muscular endurance & strength). Tomorrow we will continue our Fitness Gram pre test by measuring our cardiovascular endurance with the Pacer test. Let's have another great day!
